Fun Things To Do At Hippie Fest
VW Bug Show & Contest – Hippie Costume Contest -Hula Hoop Contest -Live Music -Food & Beer -Vendors
Tarpon Springs is a fun place to be especially on the Sponge Docks even if it’s not Hippie Fest. Hippie Fest is just one of the many fun things offered by the Tarpon Springs Chamber of Commerce and the Tarpon Springs Merchants Association. The Tarpon Springs Merchants Association brings us Hippie Fest each year. There’s always some fun thing happening whether it’s Arts & Craft Fairs, Greek Fiestas, or lots of interesting Festivals. And there are some great restaurants on offer too including Greek and seafood.
First, in 1887 the railroad service to New York began and created a boom for Tarpon Springs. The gorgeous Victorian Mansions you see around the Bayous were built by wealthy people who came to visit and fell in love with the area. In due time, they helped establish churches, schools, businesses, and hotels (so that more wealthy tourists could visit and fall in love).
Secondly, Lots of Sponges grew in the waters around Tarpon Springs; a huge sponge industry developed when the Greek divers came. At the same time, the Greek families opened shops and restaurants, pastry shops and markets.
Tarpon Springs Fine Arts Festival 2019. I love this time of year, all the really good things happen now like the Tarpon Springs Fine Arts Festival on Spring Bayou on March 9 and 10, 2019.
This is the best Fine Arts Show and always has tons of people. It’s along the water at Spring Bayou and you will love the trees, the view and the art.

Tarpon Springs Fine Arts Festival 2019
According to the Tarpon Springs Chamber “This is one of the premier Fine Arts Festivals in the Southeast. The 45th Annual Tarpon Springs Fine Arts Festival will be held on Saturday, March 9, 9am-5pm and Sunday, March 10, 10am-5pm. More than 200 juried, artists under the trees and along the bayou. There will be live entertainment both days of the event. Food & drinks will be available for purchase.”
We go every year and wouldn’t miss it.. The art exhibited is always so amazing and so beautiful. And it’s such a gorgeous spot to spend some time in the spring weather. .

Brooker Creek Preserve is at the very northern edge of Pinellas County and it is absolutely wonderful. A nature spot of 8,700 acres that is the largest natural area in Pinellas County; and consisting primarily of forested wetlands and pine flatwoods.
October 7 is the date of the Wildflower Festival in 2017.
The Preserve is not a park but rather a wilderness area that provides both a refuge for plants and creatures; as well as an opportunity for people to explore the natural beauty of wild Florida in the midst of suburbia.
Brooker Creek Preserve
What Does Brooker Creek have? You can hike on nature trails, wander around the various buildings that house information about the flora and fauna at the Preserve. There are boardwalks and trails, 9 miles of equestrian trails, environmental education center, picnic areas, classrooms, a music pavilion, andauditorium.
Children love it and there are all kinds of classes to take part in. There are guided tours, and guided hikes, annual events like the Wildflower Festival below.
We were there in October for the Wildflower Festival. There was a butterfly tent that was probably the best butterfly exhibit I have seen. The butterflies were very friendly! We even got to feed them.
There are rocking chairs like this out on the porch, you can set a spell after you wander Brooker Creek Preserve.
To take a look at all that Brooker Creek Preserve has to offer, click here. You will be amazed.
Located at 3940 Keystone Road, east of East Lake Road, Tarpon Springs 34688, it is easy to find. Their phone number is 727-453-6800. To download flyers and pamphlets about the park, click here.
Take the time to visit Brooker Creek Preserve; just the drive in is amazing.; you feel like you are returning to a bit of wilderness and Old Florida. The Preserve protects the Brooker Creek Watershed and is the only stream that enters Lake Tarpon and is a major factor in the water quality of it.
