Centennial Park Library Closed 6 Months

Centennial Park Library Closed 6 Months starting Oct. 1 for six months for renovations.  We are talking about the Pasco County Centennial Branch Library at 5740 Moog Road, Holiday, FL 34690.

Centennial Park Library Closed 6 Months

The library has posted answers on it’s website to most of your questions, such as:

Will the library be closed while it’s being renovated?

  • Yes. However, every effort is being made to maintain continuity of the events and programs that are offered. Alternative locations for programs, such as parks and recreation centers, are being identified now and will be advertised on our website, through social media, newspapers, etc. Check the website often for updates and news about the renovations.

When will the library close? The library will close October 1, 2019.

When will it reopen? It is slated to reopen in the summer of 2020.

How can I pick up books and other materials?

  • The South Holiday Library (4649 Mile Stretch Rd, Holiday, 727-834-3331) will remain open while Centennial Park is being renovated. Inter-Library transfers of books can be picked up at that location. In addition, the South Holiday branch will begin Monday hours by the end of October, 2019. With the exception of the New River branch in Wesley Chapel, which is also closed for remodeling during this time, all other libraries will be open and maintaining their regular hours.

Where will the staff go during the renovations?

  • All staff will be relocated to other branches or the alternate sites, or will be conducting community outreach.

How are the renovations being paid for?

Through a General Obligation Bond (GO Bond) that was approved by Pasco County voters in November, 2018. A GO Bond is a municipal bond secured by the issuing government’s pledge to use all available resources, including tax revenues, to repay holders of the bond.

What can I expect when the library reopens?

  • The interior will be completely updated and modernized. There will be new spaces for adults, teens, and kids, meeting spaces, new technology, a lobby with self-service café, an art display area, and a central service desk. There will also be a makerspace within the library. Monday hours will also take effect when the library reopens.

Will there still be books in the library?

  • Yes, there will be plenty of books in our collection. However, we will be utilizing a more efficient use of shelving space to make room for the expanded public spaces. Plus, our collection will be more tailored to the community’s needs.

Anclote Park In Holiday FL-Great Place

Anclote Park In Holiday FL

Lunch with friends at one of our favorite restaurants, Ms. Vicki’s on the River in Holiday, FL, and we had time after filling ourselves up to wander out on the dock and take some pictures. It was a picture-perfect day.  (if you go, I heartily recommend the Fish Platter and the She Crab soup, my son loves the hamburgers.)

Anclote Park In Holiday FL is on the west coast of Florida on the Gulf of Mexico. Take Alt. 19 to Anclote Blvd.make a right on Bailey’s Bluff,  left at Anclote Marina.  Ms. Vicki’s is on the Anclote River which leads out to the Gulf. And the views are just wonderful.

Christmas Crafts Cottage

Christmas Crafts Cottage. I found this short sale at  Skip’s Florist and Christmas House in Holiday, Florida. It was 50% off.   Who could resist? Wouldn’t you love to live here?

You have to know that I love Christmas, all of it. So when I came across this one I knew it had my name on it. I have a plant shelf in my living room that looks so good with all those houses, a railroad station, pet shelter, and my husband’s  Ives train set.  He thinks we are showcasing his antique trains but it’s really all about the town behind them.  😉

Look at those hanging ornaments on the porch.

Halloween Safety For Kids – Keep Them Safe

Halloween Safety For Kids. Halloween is such a fun time for our kids; I remember my son running here and there Halloween Safety For Kids(with me running behind him, of course), talking to the neighbors, meeting friends, loving all the candy (which we monitored). It was at the time when razor blades had started appearing in apples. So it can be scary too and it gets a little scarier each year.  Here are some tips to ensure a Happy and Safe Halloween for all.

Halloween Safety For Kids

  • Always look for the Flame Retardant label when purchasing costumes. Avoid costumes with filmy materials or wings or long sleeves.
  • Use reflective tape to decorate or trim your child’s costume/clothing; trim that will glow in a car’s headlights. Bags or sacks should also have reflective trim. Reflective tape can be found in hardware and sporting goods stores.

  • Children should also carry flashlights to be able to see hazards in front of them.

  • Apply a mask with cosmetics and not using a face-mask. The face-mask can obscure vision and/or restrict breathing. If you choose to use a mask, make sure it fits properly to allow them full vision.

  • Costumes should not be so long that the child trips over the hem.

  • Have them wear sturdy shoes that fit well. High heels are not a good idea.

  • Hats and scarfs should be tied properly so that they don’t become a vision blocker. Scarfs are probably not a good idea. They can be grabbed too easily.

More Halloween Safety For Kids

  • Swords, knifes, and other weapons should be of soft and flexible material.

  • Children should never enter a home or apartment unless an adult accompanies them.

  • Stay away from candlelit pumpkins on a porch; costumes can easily ignite.

  • Warn children not to eat any treats until you have a chance to look them over. Check all edibles in the bag that your child brings home. Report anything suspicious found in there to your local Sheriff/Police.

Halloween Safety For Kids  and  the furry kind too.
Please keep your pets inside.

Home Sales and Hauntings – Holiday FL

Home Sales and Hauntings – Holiday FL

I researched the history of Holiday and came upon this interesting page. It’s Haunted Places in Holiday. Fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you feel about haunted places, there is only one listed. According to the St. Pete Times, The Lakeview Rodeo was on land located at 2401 US Hwy. 19. (In front of Tahitian Gardens.) which burned down in 2002. Some have claimed to see a man standing in the exact spot where the building stood. BTW, there was no-one killed or injured by the fire.

Another piece of history from 1883: Holiday was known as Anclote, Hopeville became New Port Richey, and Tarpon Springs isn’t on the map because it didn’t have a post office at the time.

*Statistics compiled from MLSMFR -Pasco County.

The numbers seem to be moving up. 1,018 single-family homes sold in the first 3 months of this year is so much better than for the two years earlier. Prices are going up too. Inventory however is still down.

It’s amazing to see subdivisions with only one or two homes for sale that had 15-20. I do notice a slowing down of sales in the past month or so and see inventory increasing just slightly (Spring Break and Easter may be the cause). Of course, homes staying on the market makes for more inventory when new listings come on the market.
