My Christmas Cactus Bloomed Early. I have had this Christmas Cactus for at least 20 years, and it was old when I got it from one of my sellers. He moved out and left the poor thing sitting on the patio. I would go over to check or show the house and water it, but it looked so forlorn that I asked the seller if I could take it home. He said “Please do, it was my wife’s and she would be so happy that someone was taking car of it”.
I’ve had her ever since and she has gone through several moves, an accident that my husband had carrying her through the porch and forgetting that the ceiling fan was on (dirt and pieces of plant everywhere). But she still blooms beautifully every year.

They are so easy to start that she has many children all over our area from all the ones that I give away. I have several others but this one’s my favorite (don’t tell the others). All I do is stick a bunch of broken leaf stems in a jar of water, keep the jar filled and change to fresh water at least once a week. When roots get super long, plant in potting soil. Sometimes I just add them to another plant pot if it’s looking skimpy.
