Alright, Alright, Alright! You have decided to sell your home. You have chosen an experienced agent such as myself, who has sold in your area for years, and who uses the latest technological tools to get your home sold. The papers are signed: what’s next?

10 Tips For Great Home Photos

Photos, of course. The photographer (whether it’s the agent or someone hired by the agent) needs some help from you to get the very best photographs that will sell your home. What should you do to make sure that happens?

10 Tips For Great Home Photos

Tips to help your photographer catch your home at it’s best. 

  • Make sure the home is full of light, natural if you have it, artificial if you don’t. The photographer will use discretion to turn off any lights that interfere with the photograph.
  • If you’re walls are overfull with photos, pictures, awards take some of them down. They tend to make the home look over-stuffed and detract from the spacious look we are trying for.
  • Go after those cluttered counters and shove everything in a cupboard or cabinet.  Make sure the counter tops are pristine and pretty.
  • Pick up all articles of clothing off the floors, beds, etc. You may think your laundry is attractive but it doesn’t look good in print.
  • Put your bedspreads or comforters on the beds; make sure they are straight. I can’t tell you how many beds I have had to make or remake over my real estate career.
  • Move your kitchen trash can to a spot where it can’t be seen. I have taken photos and noticed a trash can or two afterwards (I always check my photos before leaving).
  • You should hide the litter box if Kitty has one, and pick up the dog’s toys.
  • Speaking of pets, we know you love them dearly but it’s best not to have them cavorting through the photos.  Believe it or not, some people don’t like dogs or cats, and seeing one or several may turn them off before they even get a chance to see your home.
  • Please don’t cook a meal while pictures are being taken. (Don’t ask).
  • Last, all humans should stay out of the photographer’s way and not try to be too helpful.

In face, the bubble crisis is definitely over but now we have a lack of inventory that is continuing. The “experts” in the know seem to think that this is the new “market norm”. Only time will tell. They (whoever “They” are) say millennials are renting more because the landlord is responsible for any problems.
