Kwee Huset is a Realtor® also in Venice, Fl. And we live in New Port Richey, FL. The drive is approximately an hour and a quarter for each of us; they head north and we head south.

We became friends on another blogging network. Part of the idea was that all the members would be good friends, we would comment and commiserate with each other on our blogs. And we had local meet-ups  about 4 times a year. The meet-ups no longer happen but several of us still get together to keep up and because we have become good friends.

Spinners Revolving Bistro – St Pete Beach

This is a gorgeous place to relax and enjoy a meal with friends or family; maybe take your out-of-town visitors to eat there. They will love the every-changing views. Spinners revolves slowly but imperceptibly; if you are looking at your plate for a minute, when you look up things will be slightly different.

I was concerned before we went that the name Spinners implied a fast turning restaurant. We have been in other revolving restaurants before; one was uncomfortably faster than I liked. Spinners is perfectly timed and you can enjoy all the views; it takes almost an hour to get all the way around.

The food is excellent and the service wonderful. One of the things that always impresses me is the use of tablecloths: so many restaurants do not use them anymore so when I enter a restaurant and see white tablecloths, I’m happy!

Spinners Revolving Bistro - St Pete Beach

When you go, you will thoroughly enjoy the experience. Head downstairs and out to the pool and beach areas too. How could you not love enjoying this view with food and friends. So, can you guess where our next meet-up with Kwee and Andy will be?

Keep Pasco Beautiful says:

Keep Pasco Beautiful is partnering with Pasco County to organize the annual International Coastal Cleanup. Each year, volunteers band together to pick up trash along fragile coastal waterways and in Pasco County streets.

Coastal Cleanup Pasco County
The event attracts hundreds of thousands of volunteers from around the world who spend a few hours removing trash and debris from beaches, lakes, rivers and inland areas, while keeping track of every piece of trash they find. The Ocean Conservancy uses that information to produce an annual country-by-country, state-by-state index of the problem of marine debris.

In 2016 1,372 volunteers picked up 25.36 tons of trash throughout Pasco County.

There will be teams in locations throughout Pasco County. Sites include Anclote Gulf Park and Strauber Memorial Highway in Holiday; the City of New Port Richey; Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park in Port Richey; Hudson Beach in Hudson; Lacoochee; the City of Dade City; Land O’ Lakes; and Wesley Chapel. Supplies such as trash bags and water are provided. Free t-shirts will be given out while supplies last.

“There are so many people in our community that concerned about the environment,” said Kristen King, Keep Pasco Beautiful Coordinator.

Coastal Cleanup Pasco County is a wonderful thing.

Welcome To New Port Richey Florida

Welcome To New Port Richey Florida

George A. Smith was a Realtor back in the 30’s and he had this sign erected as a Welcome to New Port Richey-FL. for what he hoped would be the home-buying public.

Welcome To New Port Richey Florida

Welcome To New Port Richey -Florida

We have lots more folks in New Port Richey nowadays; New Port Richey stretched it’s boundaries beyond the city limits so the population is considerable higher.

New Port Richey is a large town on the west coast of Florida. There are many waterfront properties with boat facilities. And lots of subdivisions from the $40,000 range and up, up, up. We are west of Tampa and north of Tarpon Springs.

I wonder who the 2 or 3 old grouches were? If anyone has a clue, let me know. I’m sure they are gone by now and we have friendly folks in New Port Richey-FL. Call us if you would like to live here. Search for homes for sale, click here.

We love our wildlife here in Timber Greens Country Club. Take a look at our Mama Cardinal here.

Our Visitor Is A Red Shouldered Hawk

Red-shouldered Hawk comes to visit in Timber Greens, New Port Richey-Florida

Our Visitor Is A Red Shouldered Hawk

Our Visitor Is A Red Shouldered Hawk.  Okay, it was the Fourth of July and you were expecting maybe an eagle but this beautiful Red-shouldered Hawk was prancing around on my neighbors bushes. (updated 6/2016).

He had a hawk-eye out for the anoles (lizards) hiding in them. I took a picture of him on the bushes but then he decided to give me an even better picture to take. I think he’s gorgeous (so does he). He was our Fourth of July gift.

Our Visitor Is A Red Shouldered Hawk

Our Visitor Is A Red Shouldered Hawk

They eat lizards, toads, and small birds. They will also try to grab rabbits, squirrels, and other creatures of that size. Yesterday, I watched him go after a small white heron in the pond. The heron got away. And, you need to keep your cats and small dogs inside if they are around. They may not be able to eat them but they will try to grab them and pick them up to fly off with them.

Our Visitor Is A Red Shouldered Hawk

Just a note: I broke a toe rushing out to get these pictures. Oh well, it only hurt for a little bit and it was worth it!
We love living in Timber Greens. It’s a gated, golf community for 55+.  It is gated/with guards (24/7).And, so very friendly.

Sunset Beach – Tarpon Springs, FL

Sunset Beach – Tarpon Springs, FL

During the winter, I took this picture of Sunset Beach in Tarpon Springs, FL. A happy beach walker was walking through but I didn’t see him till I uploaded my pictures. We enjoy walking the beaches in the winter. They have a different quality then and it’s much quieter and very peaceful.

Sunset Beach – Tarpon Springs, FL

Sunset Beach - Tarpon Springs, FL

As far as I’m concerned, this is one of the prettiest beaches in our area and this was a cold and windy but bright sunny day. Even a cold day at the beach is a good day! The submerged property  was donated to the City of Tarpon Springs by Nick and Irene Nicholas in 1926. The City then created Sunset Beach.

If you know anything about Tarpon Springs, FL., it is probably the Sponge Docks and the quirky shopping area there. There are so many delicious Greek and seafood restaurants, you can’t possibly leave hungry. And the shopping is fun and fantastical. It’s always busy and lots of tourists hit the Sponge Docks as part of their must-see list.

Also a busy area in the downtown area of Tarpon Springs. Lots of antique shops, and a great mixture of place to eat.

Lots of festivals and fairs happen in both the Sponge Docks and the downtown Tarpon Springs:there’s the Fine Arts Festival in April, HippieFest, and Snow Place Like Tarpon Springs, Oktoberfest,. It’s a great place to spend a Saturday or Sunday.

In contrast, Sunset Beach is a special spot and is always peaceful, located just south of Howard Park.  You can drop in for concerts on Thursday evenings during the summer. Nick and Irene might join you.

Cardinal In Timber Greens

Cardinal In Timber Greens.  Our little palm tree in front of our home office window in New Port Richey, FL is host to many creatures at various times.

Lately we have had a pretty visitor who I think may have a nest in the bush on the other side of our walkway.  She sits in the tree and seems to be taking a break: The palm tree must be her get-away place.

Cardinal in Timber GreensThis is Mr. Cardinal. Mrs. C’s picture went missing.

I know everyone loves the male Cardinals (me too), but I think the lady Cardinals are just as pretty as their bright red male companions. The girls (being girls)  have soft pink accents and a suede-like look to their brown feathers.  We have lots of cardinals around here and always have a new family being trained by their parents to hunt for food at our feeders.

Cardinal In Timber Greens

I’ve said it before but living in Timber Greens is like living in a wildlife park. And I just love it here.  It is a golf community and is a 55+ community. Of course, you don’t have to be over 55 to play here. Click here for the website.  It’s also a gated community with 24/7 guards.

Homes range from $230,000 to $320,000. There are also duplex style villas that are beautiful with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths and 2 car garages. And, there are also row-style villas available too.

Finally, the clubhouse and pool are fantastic and the many activities and clubhouse dinners are very popular. Did I mention Timber Greens is gated and we have two guards on duty 24/7.

Christmas Cactus Bloomed Early

My Christmas Cactus Bloomed  Early. I have had this Christmas Cactus for at least 20 years, and it was old when I got it from one of my sellers. He moved out and left the poor thing sitting on the patio. I would go over to check or show the house and water it, but it looked so forlorn that I asked the seller if I could take it home. He said  “Please do, it was my wife’s and she would be so happy that someone was taking car of it”.

I’ve had her ever since and she has gone through several moves, an accident that my husband had carrying her through the porch and forgetting that the ceiling fan was on (dirt and pieces of plant everywhere). But she still blooms beautifully every year.

My Christmas Cactus Bloomed Early for Thanksgiving.

They are so easy to start that she has many children all over our area from all the ones that I give away. I have several others but this one’s my favorite (don’t tell the others). All I do is stick a bunch of broken leaf stems in a jar of water, keep the jar filled and change to fresh water at least once a week.  When roots get super long, plant in potting soil.  Sometimes I just add them to another plant pot if it’s looking skimpy.

Craig Park Tarpon Springs FL

Craig Park Tarpon Springs Fl is located on Spring Bayou and is considered by many to be the centerpiece of Tarpon Springs with it’s picturesque  historic homes surrounding Spring Bayou. Furthermore, Craig Park is also home to the City’s War Memorial to veterans of all wars, especially Tarpon Springs residents.

Craig Park Tarpon Springs FL

Tarpon Springs is located on the Gulf coast of Florida just north of Clearwater, FL.

Craig Park Tarpon Springs FL

Equally important, Tarpon Springs is a historic city with a large Greek culture; the Sponge Docks, established in the 1880’s, are known all over the world and many tourists travel here to see it.   the homes are a mix of and Victorian and Florida architecture.

Furthermore, incorporated in 1887, it is the oldest city in Pinellas County, Florida. It is also home to the Tarpon Springs Fine Art Festival which you can see on a previous blog along with one of the historic homes.

The Tarpon Springs Heritage Museum sits in the area surrounding Craig Park. We love Tarpon Springs and drive there often for events, a visit to the Sponge Docks and especially for our car club’s Autos For Autism event in March. (No longer allowed in Tarpon Springs, unfortunately.)

No matter what you want to do in downtown Tarpon Springs: shop for antiques, find a great restaurant, just walk around and enjoy the views, you will find it!
