Looks like he missed the airport again. Made a quick left and headed to Tampa International. Driving to Tampa on SR 54, I couldn’t resist taking taking this photo of onfusion In The louds .

No, I wasn’t driving, and it’s through the windshield but you get the idea. It looks like someone was a little confused and made a sharp left turn in the sky. Maybe his wife was giving him directions on a ride-along.    I think I’ve seen him driving in Tampa.

Port Richey, FL Snapshot

Port Richey, FL Snapshot – The city of Port Richey, FL  has a total of 2.7 square miles, according to the US Census Bureau but seems much larger than that when I’m tooling around. According to the 2000 census there were over 3,700 people living in Port Richey. Port Richey, FL is located on the west coast about 35 miles north of Clearwater, FL and 20 miles north of Tarpon Springs, FL

How it all got started. In 1883, Aaron M. Richey arrived from Missouri and settled near the mouth of the Pithlachascotee River, later called Richey Point. Aaron needed a dock to moor his schooner so he purchased a small piece of riverfront property from a member of the pioneer Clark family and immediately named that piece of property “Port Richey.”

Mail was being carried from Brooksville to Anclote by horseback. He   decided to establish a post office and  name it the “Port Richey Post Office.” And chose himself to act as the first postmaster and also operated a small general store on Richey Point.

The City of Port Richey was established in 1925.  It currently resides at 6333 Ridge Rd, Port Richey, FL 34668 and is open M-F 8 am-4 pm. Susan Clark served on the first City Council which very forward-thinking of the City to have a woman on Council in 1925.

The City of New Port Richey had established itself as a city in 1924; which pushed Port Richey into doing so in 1925. The name Port Richey is much older than New Port Richey.

Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash owned a home along the Pithlachascotee River from 1979 (inherited from Maybelle Carter) to 2002.

Hudson, FL market report covers single family homes in zip codes 34667 and 34669. Hudson, FL is a wide-ranging area that spreads from the Gulf of Mexico to ranches and farms, including our new blueberry industry further to the eastern side. The Statistics used are courtesy of the MFRMLS for West Pasco County, FL.

Sold homes in Hudson, FL from January 1 to March 31, 2014 totaledHudson FL 1st Quarter 2014 147.

The lowest sold price was $27,295.for a 1,044 sf home in Florestate Park built in 1960.

Highest priced sold was $490,000 in Sea Ranch on the Gulf, it has 2,722 sf, waterfront views and access, and was built in 2001.

The listed price and sold price ratio was 96%, with an average 108 Days to Contract. Average sold price was $119,539.

Hudson FL 1st Quarter 2014

 Compare to Solds in 2013. 151 properties were sold.

The lowest sold price was $19,500. Highest sold price was $280,000.

The list to price sold ratio was 95%  with 107 days to contract.

 You might think there’s not much difference between them but to me the fact that higher priced property is selling and that the list to sold ratio is up 1% indicates a stronger market and a rise in prices in 2014. Always good!

Hudson FL 1st Quarter 2014

Currently Active Single Family Homes total 411 ranging from a list price of $509,900 in Sea Ranch on the Gulf, to $19,900 in Oakwood Heights built in 1965.

There are 143 properties either Pending or Active With Contract at this time. Home inventory is getting smaller, buyers need to make their offers now.

 We used to spend Easter with family, lots of family. I wish I had realized then how precious those times were. The day always went by in a blur what with the cleaning, the cooking, the greeting of family and guests. By the time I sat down, everyone was getting ready to leave.

So many  older members are gone now and the younger ones are all over the world.

Family get-togethers make for wonderful memories; be sure to take a moment and appreciate all you have. Our son will be here for dinner, and one thing that we do at family dinners  is to have a lighted candle on the table as a memorial for family membersno longer with us.

Easter Lilies- Poisonous To Your Cat

Easter Lilies- Poisonous To Your Cat and I will never buy an Easter Lily again even though I love them and everyone in my family loves them.  But according to the ASPCA and FDA, Easter Lilies can cause the following symptoms: vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy, kidney failure and death is a possible too.  Easter Lilies- Poisonous To Your Cat

The FDA says the entire plant is poisonous including the pollen. FDA warns that if you suspect your cat has ingested any of the lily (not just Easter Lilies), call your vet immediately. Even the pollen if they brush against it can be hazardous. And it could be just a few grains of pollen licked off their fur.

Dogs may have gastrointestinal issues but nothing life threatening.

If Easter Lilies-Poisonous to Your Cat. Why have it in your home? The list includes Tiger, Asiatic, Day and Japanese Show Lilies. Lily of the Valley is toxic too.

There’s a fantastic car show held each year during the summer in Lakeland, FL. all around the downtown area. Lakeland is not within my selling area but we do go to the car show and appreciate some of the pretty scenery. Lakeland is closer to the middle of the state and is the chain of lakes area of Florida which is so beautiful. You can check out the Lake Mirror Classic Car Show here.

This is a spectacular concourse car show with very old and expensive cars on display all around Mirror Lake. There’s also a contest for the drivers of the real antiques; they dress in costumes of the period of their cars.

Picasso Is Coming To The Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, FL. Picasso and Dali met in 1926,  Dali was 23 years younger than Picasso and in his early twenties when they met. Dali’s works were influenced by Picasso’s style at the time. They were not close but did remain friends; but both had huge egos and were highly competitive so BFF’s they weren’t.

When will Dali Meets Picasso open? November 8, 2014 till Feb. 16, 2015. This will be the only American exhibition. Then it will move on to the Museo Picasso in Barcelona, Spain. Both were born in Spain, although they spent most of their artistic lives in Paris.

The exhibition will pair and compare works from both Picasso and Dali. You can read a comparative essay on both men here.

This market report covers New Port Richey single family home sales for the first quarter of 2014.

The lowest price home sold in New Port Richey, FL was $10,000 for a home in Grove Park built in 1960; with 1,223 sf.

Highest sold price was $645,000 in the Flor-A-Mar section of Gulf Harbors. The home has 4,138 sf, 4 bedrooms, 4 baths, and a view of the beach and Gulf.

Median solds equal $90,000 with a listing to sold price ratio of 96% and 44 days to contract.

New Port Richey, FL 1st Quarter 2014 Home Sales: Compare this to the solds first quarter of 2013, where average sold prices  were $117,650. Don’t panic and think prices have gone down, averages depend a many factors and may not accurately reflect the market.  Median sold price was $99,000.
