Swans Gone Wild In Lakeland, FL

Swans Gone Wild In Lakeland, FL

There’s a fantastic car show held each year during the summer in Lakeland, FL. all around the downtown area. Lakeland is not within my selling area but we do go to the car show and appreciate some of the pretty scenery. Lakeland is closer to the middle of the state and is the chain of lakes area of Florida which is so beautiful. You can check out the Lake Mirror Classic Car Show here.

These statues grace the downtown area.

The real deal. These swans gone wild are actually very tame.

And this is the reason we were there to look at all the pretty cars.

Note the swan watching us to the right.

This is a spectacular concourse car show with very old and expensive cars on display all around Mirror Lake. There’s also a contest for the drivers of the real antiques; they dress in costumes of the period of their cars.

Picasso Is Coming To The Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, FL. Picasso and Dali met in 1926,  Dali was 23 years younger than Picasso and in his early twenties when they met. Heartbleed -Not Good For Your Computer

Heartbleed -Not Good For Your Computer

The early morning news had a segment about  the Heartbleed bug. This bug has been floating in our computers for at least the last few years. Heartbleed makes us vulnerable to hacking because it records your passwords even if they are encrypted. Heartbleed was just discovered a little over a week or two ago.

Heartbleed -Not Good For Your ComputerAnd,  to make you feel really good: some of the biggest sites like Yahoo, Amazon, Google, Facebook, Twitter, Netflix are infected.

There seems to be a patch available to fix it but if the vulnerable sites mentioned above haven’t updated their sites yet; don’t bother changing passwords. It will just find your new one.

Mashable.com has lots of information about Heartbleed. And you can go to LastPass.com to check the URL of any site you go to; the search is free. It will tell you if the site is safe from Heartbleed. LastPass stands for the last password you will have to remember.

At this time, there doesn’t seem to be any way that the bug can be checked to see if has been  using your information for the last two years.  After you check the site’s URL on LastPass and find that the site is Heartbleed free, that’s the time to change your password. You can also read more about it here.  This site is cnet and will tell you which sites have already patched Heartbleed.

And you should read about it. There will be lots more information about it coming to a news room near you.

Hawks In Timber Greens,New Port Richey FL

Hawks In Timber Greens -New Port Richey, FL. Our Red-shouldered Hawks came to visit again. The first picture is Mr. Hawk who was on our outside light, it was raining earlier and he looks a little damp.

Hawks in Timber Greens-Both Male and Female

Hawks in Timber Greens-New Port Richey FL
I think this is Mrs. Hawk because she’s darker than him with less pretty white and brown spots on front. She was sitting up in the tree, looking down at my cat on the porch. I think she was contemplating a snack. She stayed there quite a while too (even when I went out to take her picture after putting the cat in the house). She just gave me that Hawk-eye and then decided I was much too big for her!

Hawks In Timber Greens -New Port Richey, FL
We live in Timber Greens on the golf course. It’s a 55+, gated/guarded golf community. It’s  beautiful and just like living in a wildlife park. We see deer, all types of birds, raccoons, and even an alligator at our pond.

If we can get you any information on Timber Greens in New Port Richey, FL. just give us call. You can take a look at Timber Greens on their website here.

Sunset Beach – Tarpon Springs, FL

Sunset Beach – Tarpon Springs, FL

During the winter, I took this picture of Sunset Beach in Tarpon Springs, FL. A happy beach walker was walking through but I didn’t see him till I uploaded my pictures. We enjoy walking the beaches in the winter. They have a different quality then and it’s much quieter and very peaceful.

Sunset Beach in Tarpon Springs, FL

As far as I’m concerned, this is one of the prettiest beaches in our area and this was a cold and windy but bright sunny day. Even a cold day at the beach is a good day! The submerged property  was donated to the City of Tarpon Springs by Nick and Irene Nicholas in 1926. The City then created Sunset Beach on the property.

Sunset Beach in Tarpon Springs, FL

Sunset Beach is a special spot and is always peaceful, located just south of Howard Park.  You can drop in for concerts on Thursday evenings during the summer. Nick and Irene might join you.

Go Blue For Autism Awareness

Go Blue for Autism Awareness for the month of April.

Go Blue For Autism AwarenessA news report released recently stated that 1 in 68 U.S. children is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The organization Autism Speaks asks you to light up blue for the month of April. Use a blue light bulb for the exterior of your home, bake blue cookies, light up an entire building in blue, or simply wear a blue outfit, or shirt. Autism Speaks can be viewed here on their website. Or take a look at the Facebook page here.

Autism seems to be growing by leaps and bounds and there are many schools and Go Blue For Autism Awarenessprograms to help with the various manifestations.  Autism Speaks and many other organizations are doing research to help find the causes and the cures. You can help by joining a local organization, supporting schools that work with autistic children, volunteering.

Show support; it can be as simple as a blue light bulb in your outdoor light.

Our car club (AACA-Richey Region) holds a car show every year called Autos for Autism; this is a successful event; we get many calls from people who want to be involved because their niece/nephew/son/daughter has autism. Please help support the autism organization of your choice.
